Megan Anna Rapinoe born 5th July, 1985 in Redding California. She honed her soccer skills throughout her teenage years. Her fraternal twin sister, Megan Rapinoe, also attended University of Portland. Megan Rapinoe became a soccer star for the Portland University, becoming one of collegiate women's soccer's most prolific players. A sprain in her knee caused her to sit out part of the season during her sophomore and junior years. In her senior year she took on every match and returned to the sport full time. She graduated from Portland's University of Portland in 2008 with a bachelor's in sociology. Her soccer playing career started in 2009. Her team was her team, the Chicago Illinois Red Stars from the newly formed Women's Professional Soccer WPS. The Red Stars until their dissolution in late 2010. Following a brief stint as a player with the Philadelphia Pennsylvania Independence Rapinoe was transferred for the Boca Raton Florida magicJack. After only eight games, her goal was two out of three goals scored by the team. The magicJack managed to achieve third place within the division. The team folded in the latter part of 2011. magicJack went under and in the early part of 2012, it was the same with WPS. Rapinoe had a brief stint with Sydney Football Club FC (Australian W-League) in 2011, before returning to the United States. The next time she played was with Seattle Washington Sounders Women. Seattle Washington Sounders Women now known as the Sound FC. The 2013 season of Rapinoe was playing soccer in France. She was a member of Seattle Reign FC, now OL Reign in the National Women's Soccer League NWSL that was created following the dissolution of WPS. Rapinoe soon became a leading scoring player in the team and eventually was named captain. Her contribution to the tournament have helped her team U.S. team win consecutive Women's World Cup championships in the years 2015 and 2019. In 2018 she was able to assume the cocaptain role for the team. The two goals scored by Rapinoe were part of the four-three United States victory against Australia in the Olympics of 2020 held in Tokyo. Japan, however it was postponed until 2021, until the COVID-19 epidemic had passed.
