Aurora
Aurora Aksnes was born on June 15, 1996 in Stavanger, Norway. She is professionally known as Aurora and sometimes stylized with lowercase letters, such as AURORA. Her debut E.P. Running with the Wolves was released by Label Decca Records in May 2015 with great praise by music journalists and media. She's also recorded some high-profile cover songs, like Half the World Away (by Oasis) for the Christmas advert. Oasis) for John Lewis' Christmas advert and Nature Boy (by Nat King Cole) that have been widely praised. Katy Perry's praise for the song Runaway on her blog earned the artist additional appreciation. It was her birthday. Aurora Aksnes' earliest musical experiences include discovering an old piano that was hidden away in the attic of her home, and getting enthralled by the sounds it produced. Parents May-Britt as well as Jan Oystein Aksnes encouraged her to take up music not as an occupation or pastime but to grow. In order to do so she began to write original compositions. Her sources include renowned authors Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan, as well as her love of Bjork's style. Her mother urged her to play her music publicly, not so that she could gain fame but rather to assist others in understanding how valuable their voices are and how they can do for the world. Her first piano lesson was when she was six years old and began writing music when she was nine. Her family didn't hear about it until the age of fourteen. Aurora wasn't just a fantasy of childhood. Her words say that she simply likes to write songs. Music is for her the most effective way to experience anything.
